Description

This listing is for a linen postcard showing the then Governor of Arkansas, Ben Laney, planting a cork oak tree on the State Capitol Grounds in Little Rock on March 19, 1946
.  There is also a picture of the plaque and the State Capitol.  It highlights the McManus Cork Project that promoted the planting of cork trees for the World War II wartime effort.  The caption on the back is very interesting, stating that although the Cork Tree is native to the Mediterranean it can be grown in Arkansas.  Amazing what you can learn from postcards!
The card is in excellent condition with no tears or creases and very little corner or edge wear.
