Offered is this lovely fine porcelain china demitasse cup and saucer made in Germany by Carl Schumann. The pattern is called Empress, which features Dresden Flowers on the rims and small blossoms in the cup and around the saucer well.
The flowers are red, pink, blue, orange, yellow and purple with green foliage.
Gold trim decorates the rims, the handle and the base of the cup.
The demi cup and saucer are marked US Zone, indicating they were made shortly after World War II, while Germany remained occupied by allied forces.
The gently scalloped saucer measures 4.25 inches in diameter (11 cm).
The cup measures 2.75 inches in diameter (7 cm) and stands 1 5/8 inches high (4.1 cm). It will hold 3 ounces of espresso or other strong after-dinner coffee. The cup also could be used to serve hot tea, especially at a grandmother’s tea party.
Very good used condition with no chips or cracks. Gold trim in very good condition.
